I came here today, Saturday, just for some Goat Head Soup---no, not to listen to the eponymous Rolling Stones album, which was partially recorded in Jamaica in the early 70s. It was to eat the Goat Head Soup that is also known as Mannish Water. It is a delicacy in Jamaica, where the British rockers recorded the album. Now you know how the album got its name. The traditional recipe calls for goat head, goat offals, pumpkin, carrots, yams, potatoes, green banana, okra, dumplings, whole pimento berries, fresh thyme, ginger, scallions, pimento seeds and garlic. The chef at Jamaica Grand improvised the recipe by adding to the pot some coins of fresh corn on the cob and some cubes of pumpkin. The soup is considered an aphrodisiac, and it is traditionally served to the groom in Jamaica on his wedding night. That is why it is also called "Man"-nish Water. It is sold only on Saturdays, conforming to tradition because that is the day when most couples tie the knot. TIP: The soup is ready to eat around noon. The best part, in my opinion, is always the dumpling. My cup contained a scant amount, so I asked for some extra. The pumpkin took place as first runner up. It was fresh, ripe, sweet and crisp-tender--not mushy, which seems to be the fate of soup vegetables in most restaurant and even some home kitchens. Although I have had better Goat Head Soup in Jamaica, where locals make it by using a freshly-killed goat, I find that Jamaica Grand's rendition of the recipe passes the muster. The cost is $3.80 including tax for a small 8 oz. cup (see the photo below). The larger size sells for twice that amount. This "restaurant" is really a take-out joint that has a few stools in a small sitting area. There are no tables. There also aren't as many menu options as you would get in Brooklyn and Queens. Example: no bun and cheese, black cake or currant rolls. Goat Head Soup lovers, don't "Hide Your Love" for it by making sure you stop by Jamaica Grand one Saturday afternoon to get some. The quotation marks above capture the title of my favorite song in the Rolling Stones album.

Yummy flavors for takeout!! Ox tail w rice!! Curry goat w rice. Sweet roasted maduros. Beef patties that own Golden Krust. Lovely crispy outer shell w flavorful meat bean filling (a little less ground beefy than most but great flavor!) Jerk chicken was dry but drenched with the delicious homemade hot sauce made it quite good.

Go check this place out!!!!!! Focus on the food please ! All these other reviews about the women didn't deter me. I ordered the jerk chicken with sides of Mac n cheese (available only Thursday Friday and Saturday) and plantains. The portion was huge!!!!!!!!!!! And I got two beef patties (spicy). There was a line and it was worth the wait! The food is delicious give it a try

Happened to notice this new spot opened up in the C-Town parking lot. All this talk of goat got me hankering for some Curried Goat. I usually frequent Little Jamaica down the road but I figured I'd give this place a shot. I was surprised how large the space was. Everything is nice new & shiny. Line moved quick & the staff was friendly. I'd love to try the oxtails. They looked really good but I was here for the goat. And Happy I got it. Tender & well seasoned with ample amounts of everything. I love the cabbage. Will report more when I've tried more. Go! It's Good Eats. 1-27-2017
